Pray For Houston & Galveston Please

Hi All,

I spent the first 19 years of my life in the Houston area. They are about to get walloped by Ike and my mom and I are worried about how bad it is going to be. We've both seen the results of tropical storms and hurricanes that have hit the area in the past and its not pretty. Please send prayers/hugs/good thoughts/juju for safety of all the people/animals/property in the path of Ike.

All you Houston area readers, please stay safe.

Thank you!
Elizabeth

Hey Elizabeth,

I just wanted to give you an update on Quail Valley. There are tons of trees down, lots of debris and fences down, and there is no electricity, but other than that the neighborhood looks pretty good. There were several damaged houses, but that was from the trees falling on them. Quail Valley faired pretty well (slightly on the west side of the storm = clean side). Downtown got LOTS of wind and water, lots of stuff was underwater, but not as bad as Tropical Storm Allison a few years ago. There were many windows that were blown out in the skyscrapers downtown too. Our side of town (Richmond/Rosenberg) never lost power and only had minor wind damage.

The biggest thing right now is the gas shortage. They are trying to fill the tanks as fast as they can, but with the amount of people who came north to us and or the amount of people who are coming through us to go back south home has depleted the gas supply. :( I waited this morning for 1 1/2 hours in line to get gas for Jeff's truck. He had to work through the storm etc. so he now is driving my car because mine had gas.

It's been an adventure.

Thank you for the prayers! :)

Hugs from Houston from Hurricane Ike,
Casey
